“UNESCO and the European Union have launched a new multi-year project entitled ‘Social Media 4 Peace’ to strengthen the resilience of civil society to potentially harmful content spread online, in particular hate speech inciting violence, while enhancing the promotion of peace through digital technologies, notably social media.
In light to the recently launched Social Media 4 Peace project, UNESCO Office in Jakarta will facilitate a virtual discussion entitled Social Media for Peace: action to counter online disinformation and hate speech. The aim of virtual discussion is two-folds: to introduce and raise the Social Media 4 Peace project to the public and relevant stakeholders as well as a forum to facilitate meaningful discussion exploring the potential of social media platforms in tackling potential harmful content online, in particular disinformation & hate speech as well as fostering peace building in Indonesia.”
